Switch and Switch 2 guide
How to join any Minecraft server on Switch
On Switch and Switch 2, the Minecraft Servers tab only lists the featured servers. With our DNS, one of them opens a menu where you type the address of any Bedrock server.
- Primary DNS
- 095.170.030.025
- Secondary DNS
- 001.001.001.001
The secondary DNS is required: ours only answers for Minecraft.
Before you start
- Your console connected to the Internet, and Minecraft up to date: versions 1.26.60 to 1.26.63 all work (same protocol).
- The address and port of the server you want to join (the port is often
19132). - Five minutes. Nothing to install, no account to create.
- On PC, phone or tablet (Windows, Android, iOS) you do not need this guide: the Servers tab already has an “Add Server” button.
Step 1: set the DNS on your Switch
- System Settings
- Internet
- Internet Settings
- Your network
- Change Settings
- DNS Settings
- Manual
- From the HOME Menu, open System Settings, then Internet and Internet Settings.
- Pick your network from the registered networks, then Change Settings.
- DNS Settings: Manual.
- Primary DNS: enter
095.170.030.025. The Switch wants three digits per block, so pad with zeros. - Secondary DNS:
001.001.001.001. Save, then connect to this network.
Step 2: join a server in Minecraft
- Fully close Minecraft: press HOME, then X on the game icon, Close. Then launch it again.
- Play, then the Servers tab. Join Mineville, Lifeboat, Galaxite or Enchanted. Not The Hive: it always opens the real server.
- Minecraft asks whether you trust the server: accept. Our menu opens (the question may come back once for the server you join next).
- Choose « Rejoindre un serveur (Join a server) ». Labels are in French with the English in brackets: type the address in « Adresse du serveur (Server address) » and the port in « Port », without the colon.
- Tick « Ajouter à ma liste (Add to my list) » to find it again next time, then confirm: Minecraft transfers you to the server.
Next time, your server is listed under « Rejoindre un serveur (Join a server) », so there is no need to type the address again. « Gérer ma liste (Manage my list) » lets you edit or remove it.
Troubleshooting
- Switch 2: timeout or Terracotta error
- Reported since 1.26.60 on Minecraft Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, including with the official BedrockConnect DNS. Weak Wi-Fi is often the cause: move the console closer to the router or plug the dock into Ethernet, then try again.
- The console rejects the DNS address
- Each block needs three digits:
095.170.030.025and001.001.001.001. - The real featured server opens, not our menu
- The console is not using our DNS yet. Check both addresses, then fully restart the console and Minecraft.
- No more Internet on the console
- The secondary DNS is missing or mistyped. Set
1.1.1.1. - Endless loading after typing the address
- The target server is not responding, or has not moved to the 1.26.60 connection mode yet. Check the address and port, then ask its admin whether it is up to date.
- An error shows up before the menu
- Fully close Minecraft and try once more. If the error comes back, write to us with the time of your attempt and the message shown: we will check what our machine received at that time.
Undo the change
To play on the real featured servers again, or if you no longer want the menu:
- System Settings, Internet, Internet Settings, your network, Change Settings.
- DNS Settings: Automatic, then Save.
Frequently asked questions
Is the setup the same on Switch 2?
Yes: same menus, same DNS. It works for both versions of the game on Switch 2, Minecraft for Nintendo Switch and Minecraft Nintendo Switch 2 Edition.
Is it free?
Yes, for everyone, with no account to create and no need to be a HelloServ customer.
Does the change affect my other games?
No. Our DNS only answers for the names of the Minecraft featured servers. Everything else (other games, store, updates) goes through the secondary DNS, as before.
